Career Guidance Seminar by IB Faculty (High School Year 1)

On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Miss Chip, an IB program faculty member who teaches English and Geography, held a career guidance seminar for first-year high school students. Miss Chip discussed the considerations for choosing university majors and emphasized the importance of maintaining balance in our lives to mature into responsible grown-ups. She also noted that communication skills are vital to career success, relationship-building, and decision-making. The seminar today was held in English, and it would be an excellent opportunity for students to improve their English skills and self-understanding as they engaged in a Q&A session in English as well.

IB教員による進路講演会（高１）

　令和5年6月14日(水)， IBプログラムで英語や地理を教えているChip先生が高校1年生向けに進路講演会を開催しました。Chip先生は大学での専門を選ぶ際の考慮点や責任ある人になるために自分の生活におけるバランスが大事だと話しました。さらに，コミュニケーションスキルがキャリアの成功又は人間関係の構築，意思決定のプロセスにも重要な役割を果たすと強調していました。英語で行った今日の講演会では生徒も英語でQ&Aを行い，英語力を高め自己理解を 深める素晴らしい機会になりました。

Greetings from Countries Around the World ! (Middle School Year 1)

On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, Daithí (from Ireland), Stefania (from Ecuador), and Rodrigo (from Argentina) gave presentations to the first-year middle school students. Their presentations allowed the students to explore new cultures and knowledge. They learned about each country's unique cultures and diversities and experienced the attractiveness of these countries. Through this opportunity, students learn the value of respecting and understanding other cultures. Furthermore, we hope this international exchange was a precious opportunity for the students to deepen their understanding of different cultures and broaden their global perspectives.

世界の国からこんにちは（中１）

　令和5年6月13日（火），ダヒ（アイルランド出身），ステファニア（エクアドル出身），ロドリゴ（アルゼンチン出身）が中学1年生のためにプレゼンテーションを行いました。このプレゼンテーションは，生徒たちに新たな文化と知識を探求する重要な機会を提供しました。各国の独特な文化と多様性について学び，生徒たちはそれぞれの国の魅力を体験しました。この経験は彼らに異なる文化への敬意や理解を持つことの価値を示しました。さらに，この国際交流は生徒たちにとって異文化理解と国際視野を深めるための非常に価値ある機会となりました。

Eid Mubarak from Nika !

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, we celebrated an Eid lunch party at the IB building. Three of our IB faculty members—Miss Imane, a biology teacher from Algeria, along with Mr. Hannan and Mr. Raza, physics and chemistry teachers from Pakistan—introduced Muslim festivals, Ramadan and Eid. Our students learned about the significance of those days, including the period of fasting, self-reflection, and charity that marks Ramadan and the joyful celebration of Eid in Muslim countries. The teachers prepared traditional dishes from their home countries and shared the unique stories behind their regional characteristics. Around 30 middle school and IB students participated in this event, having Algerian and Pakistani cuisines and learning different customs in those countries. They were enthusiastic to engage in discussions and raise insightful questions about other cultures. International teachers felt gratified by the student’s interests and promised to host similar cultural events in the future to broaden their international perspective and celebrate the diversity that exists within the IB community.

二華から、イード・ムバラク！（イードおめでとうございます） 

　令和5年5月13日（土），IB棟でイードの昼食パーティーを祝いました。二華のIB教員3人，生物教師のイマン先生（アルジェリア出身），そして物理教師のハンナン先生と化学教師のラザ先生（パキスタン出身）が，イスラム教の祝日であるラマダン（Ramadan）とイード（Eid）について紹介しました。今回のイベントは生徒たちにイスラム教を信じる国々においてラマダン期間中の断食，自己反省，慈善活動の重要性やイードの喜びに満ちた祝いについて学ぶ貴重な機会になりました。先生たちは自国の伝統的な料理を作り，その地域の話を共有しました。約30人の中学生とIBの生徒がこのイベントに参加し，アルジェリアとパキスタンの料理を味わい，先生たちの故国の習慣を習いました。生徒は異なる文化についての議論に積極的に参加し，洞察深い質問を投げかけました。先生たちは生徒たちの興味に感謝し，将来的に彼らの国際的な視野を広げ，二華IBコミュニティ内の文化的な多様性を経験するため，同じような文化イベントを開催することを約束しました。

令和５年４月８日（土）IB棟303教室にて,国際バカロレア（ＩＢ）類型３期生の開講式が行われました。

校長先生からの式辞,２期生からの決意表明と３期生への歓迎の言葉,３期生からの今後の抱負,IBコーディネーターからの激励の言葉,そして授業担当教員の紹介が行われました。

また,開講式後には２期生による『TOK』の授業見学会も行われました。３期生,保護者,先生方の参観ということで緊張の様子も見えましたが,楽しく活発な議論をしていました。

仙台二華高校のIBプログラムは,多くのインターナショナルティーチャーズと日本人の先生,そして生徒が一緒に作っていきます。これからの成長が楽しみですね。

　令和５年1月29日（日）に国際バカロレア類型Year 1（高校2年次）の生徒たちがグループ4プロジェクト*の一環として，福島県にある東日本大震災・原子力災害伝承館，東京電力廃炉資料館にてフィールドワークを行いました。
　伝承館では，東日本大震災と原発事故について，時系列，分野別など様々な視点からインプットし，その後のワークショップで意見を出し合い，グループ発表，個人発表の流れでアウトプット活動を行いました。
　ワークショップ後の振り返り活動では，復興の意味や東日本大震災での原発事故の最終的な総括などについて議論しました。
　午後は東京電力廃炉資料館に移動し，原発事故当時から現在，未来について，多くの映像資料とともに学びました。
　一日をとおして，視覚資料とガイドの方の説明，見学などから多くを学び，新たな問いを見つけることができたフィールドワークとなりました。
